All the emails are automated aren't they?

All the emails are automated aren't they?

As Work Rest or Play has grown, one question has come up a few times:

"Are these emails automated, or are they actually from you?"

The answer is both.

Technology handles the routine. I handle the relationships.

Work Rest or Play now supports around 150 advertisers, with new businesses, community organisations and event organisers joining every week.

To make sure everyone receives the right information at the right time, we use a series of carefully planned email sequences and reminders throughout your time with us.

These include:

  • Welcome and onboarding emails for Bronze, Silver and Gold advertisers.
  • Helpful reminders a couple of months after you join, so you can make the most of your advertising.
  • Renewal reminders at around three months, 30 days and on your renewal date, so there are no unexpected surprises.
  • Reminders for Silver and Gold advertisers about Success Sessions and analytics reviews.
  • Follow-up emails after you've added an event, with ideas and tips to help you get the best possible reach.

These emails aren't there to fill your inbox. They're there to make sure you don't miss opportunities or forget about features that could help you promote your organisation more effectively.

Every email is written by me

Although some emails are sent automatically, every one has been written by me.

There isn't a chatbot working behind the scenes, and there isn't a customer service team replying on my behalf.

If you click Reply, your message comes straight to me, and I'll answer it personally.

Perhaps going forward, I will add a note like the following to the sequenced emails -

This email is part of a sequence following ****, but I do read every reply personally.

or

Our system sends this reminder automatically so you receive it at the right time. If you have any questions, just hit Reply and it'll come directly to me.

I want to be open about when technology is helping behind the scenes, while reassuring you that the relationship is always personal.

Prefer to find the information yourself?

Many of the emails you receive now link directly to the Advertiser HelpDesk, where we've brought together guides, tips and answers to common questions.

The HelpDesk is designed so you can find information whenever it's convenient for you, whether that's immediately after receiving an email or several months later when you need a reminder.

Of course, if you'd rather ask a question than search for an answer, that's absolutely fine too.

Just reply to the email.

It'll be me at the other end.
